Here is a recipe for chocolate chip cookies I use. It is a modified recipe from my mom's cookbook.

Ingredients:
1 cup soft butter*
½ cup granulated sugar
¾ cup brown sugar
1 egg
2 ¼ cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
12 ounces semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 375℉
Mix butter, sugars and egg.
Stir in flour, baking soda and salt (dough will be stiff).
Stir in chocolate chips.
Place dough in ¼ cupfuls on a baking sheet. Bake until edges are set, 12-15 minutes.**
For additional flavor, mix in 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg, cinnamon and all spice into the mix before baking.
*I find that one full cup of butter is a bit too much sometimes, I usually take a cup, then remove just a bit off the top, so it's more like 15/16 cup of butter, but that is not exact (and is also kind of a strange measurement for baking).
**I always and up making these too big, but I find it helps make the outsides well baked while the insides stay soft, but the original recipe is actually for much smaller cookies so feel free to play around with the size, just make sure they don't over or under cook.
